Agard Court, a 244 bed student accommodation scheme for the University of Derby has reached completion in time for the 2018 academic intake. The site lies within the Friar Gate conservation area, next to the University’s Law School building delivered by CJCT in 2013.
Directly abutting Friar Gate Railway Bridge, the building responds to the historic context of the site through subtle twists in plan and a stepped silhouette. Despite the limited space available on the site, the design team were able to create a courtyard space for students making use of the existing tram tracks and cobbled paving.
The scheme was designed to planning stage by CJCT and delivered on site by others.
