Construction work has commenced on site for the first phase of development at Crown House, Cambridge Road in Barking. The CJCT designed residential scheme will offer 113 affordable and 56 Shared ownership homes within the first phase of development, with a further 227 private development homes due in the latter phase of the build.
With output on many sites reduced during the Covid -19 outbreak, the team were able to remain on site and progress with enabling works which were completed during the earlier part of the year. The two cranes were installed during April and will allow for the building to be constructed without the requirement for scaffolding, reducing cost and programme. The precast façade panels, currently in fabrication will be hoisted directly from the delivery vehicle onto the building.
The ground floor slab is almost poured with work due to start on the superstructure and frame in August. Careful social distancing implementations have permitted the development to continue on the original programme with phase 1 due to complete May 2022
