Carey Jones Chapman Tolcher are delighted to have won unanimous approval from Leeds City Council Planning Committee for the regeneration of the former Monk Bridge Doncaster Steel Works, which surrounds the ‘stranded’, but magnificent, Grade II listed 1846 Gritstone viaduct.

The panel were clear in their praise for the design team and the developer:

“The most exciting scheme to be brought before this committee in my 30 years as chair”

The Chairman of LCC Planning Committee, Councillor James McKenna

The two phase application comprises 307 PRS apartments, and outline consent for a further 300 apartments.

The client brief from Foundation Real Estate and Alpha Real Capital was to bring the viaduct back to life, deliver a highly efficient residential development, and to make the most of the unique context offered by the viaduct.
