The new £20 million Northampton station designed by CJCT careyjones chapmantolcher is now fully fitted-out following the official opening by Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin last month.

The new station, which has been partly funded with £10 million of government investment, is now home to a large WH Smith as well as a Starbucks with travel and ticketing facilities within the main public concourse.

The development provides a modern gateway to the town, and will help meet the demand from growing numbers of visitors and commuters.

The building is more than twice the size of the previous station and includes heritage interpretation of the former Norman castle that was close to the site.
