CJCT’s designed 6 Wellington Place reached a significant milestone this week, with the building’s topping out being marked with a ‘steel signing’ Ceremony.

A column at the top of the building was signed by representatives from the Wellington Place ‘family’ and included James Dipple from MEPC, Neil Clarke from Shepherd Construction and John Leake, partner at Squire Patton Boggs – who will be the first tenant of the building. Also present were Tim Hill, Leeds new Head of Planning, John Thorp, Leeds former Civic Architect as well as Consultant, agents and many other parties involved in the project.

Our Leeds’ Studio members, Patrick Evers, Project Director, and Philippa Gledhill, Architect and team member for 6 Wellington Place, attended the event as CJCT’s representatives and signed the column, which will remain as a permanent record of the team involved.

The building is on programme to deliver by December 2015 over 100,000sqft of office space. This will also include Tower Square, a new 4000sqm public park at the heart of the Wellington Place Masterplan.
James Dipple, chief executive of MEPC, said: “We are all hugely excited about progress at 6 Wellington Place, with work also progressing well on 5 Wellington Place. These buildings continue the regeneration of this large Masterplan, which will provide the first grade A Office Development to have been constructed in Leeds for more than six years.

Once completed, Wellington Place Masterplan will offer over 2.5 million sqft of exemplary sustainable mixed use development over a 14 acre site, completely transforming the City Centre of Leeds.
