Richard undertook his architectural studies at Newcastle University before joining Faulkner Browns as an architect in 2003.  Completion of complex projects saw Richard promoted to Project Director in 2006 and subsequently Studio Leader in 2010, leading a team of 15 delivering a broad spectrum of building typologies, including complex masterplanning, residential developments, offices, sport and leisure, elite sporting facilities, refurbishment and conservation.

Prior to joining CJCT, Richard was Consulting Design Director for a residential developer in the North East, heading up the delivery of residential, and mixed use sites. This involved bringing together a design team to deliver a variety of residential types from inception to completion. Working closely with a commercial developer gives Richard a unique understanding of “true value” through high quality design.

In recent years Richard has self-built his family home in the Yorkshire countryside, providing him with a hands on experience and a desire to create high quality architectural design through simple, robust detailed buildings.

Outside of work Richard enjoys nothing more than spending time with family and friends; having an active family lifestyle.
