Yorkshire Residential Property Award for Best City Centre Development
The Gateway development consists of five individual, but interlinked buildings set around a communal landscaped area, providing 750,000sqft of space, with 620 apartments, a 215 key hotel, 50,000sqft of offices and 25,000sqft of mixed commercial use with on-site parking for 425 vehicles. The development forms a catalyst for the regeneration of Leeds' eastern quarter, connecting the city with previously isolated communities.
The design, which reflects a contemporary style with emphasis on the inner environment, evolved through CJCT’s collaboration with the Council’s Chief Architect, John Thorp, and is designed to form a stark contrast to the standard red brick residential developments which are becoming all too common in the City Centre.
