Project Description
CJCT were asked by the client to create a larger Debenhams department store within the existing confines of a Listed Building. After negotiation with the Planning Department and English Heritage, it was agreed that the Victorian frontage would be retained and the structure behind could then be replaced. This enabled a significant increase of floor area within the demise of the premises.
The new floors within the Victorian section of the building are linked to the 1930’s Art Deco building to give continuity of shop floors. There was significant repair work to the facades of both the Victorian and the 1930’s building.
