Project Description

After success in an initial design competition, CJCT were asked to design and deliver a corporate head office for BAE Systems Detica both in Guildford & London. The London project involved the design and fit out of the fourth floor of the signature Blue Fin building on the South Bank. This complex 40,000 sqft project involved unique security considerations and phased occupation within a fully occupied & fully operational building.

The brief was the adaptation of a previously occupied speculative office building into a bespoke corporate client working environment to create a showcase workplace for Detica, providing a space that represented clearly their corporate brand. The client had very specific business operation requirements which had to be adhered to and the client facing areas needed to provide enhanced, cutting edge facilities and a dramatic visual impact for each visitor.

Together with the client we revised & refreshed the existing design brand standards to ensure that these & future facilities reflected a fast growing forward thinking company and enhance the feeling of pride amongst staff. The new standards provided a high sensory impact throughout the workspaces with a clear yet subtle corporate image.  This was successfully achieved through the creative use of a geometric approach to walls, floors and ceilings which include recessed angular lighting installations & cleverly designed manifestations. The reception area needed to provide the wow factor as customers crossed the bridge before entering the space and this was achieved by create a white, bright canvas with key brand colour gradients along with angled reflective surfaces and recessed light fittings in the floors, walls & ceiling. The design was completed with high quality loose furniture, AV facilities and cleverly designed bespoke joinery items.

CJCT ensured that the client’s expectations, desires, & specific operational requirements were fully understood and implemented throughout the design by constant interaction between key personal on the client side and the professional team. This ensured this unique phased occupation fit out was completed to the highest standard and provided the stand-out headquarters to the client’s aspirations.
