Project Description

Central Square was the first refurbished office development in the North East of England to achieve a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating, in 1998.

Phase I of the development was created from the refurbishment of the former Royal Mail Sorting Office. The completed development provides 75,000 sqft of high quality office space over five floors, with a stunning central atrium containing lift core, cantilevered feature staircase, cafe bar, 100 person conference facility and seating areas complemented by trees and animated water features. The basement was converted into a car park for 30 cars.

Central Square South, Phase I’s sister building, provides 90,000 sqft of new high quality flexible office accommodation over seven floors; which again wrap around a spectacular central atrium with café bar, landscaped seating areas and a water feature by the artist William Pye. Excellent working conditions are created in both buildings by the use of displacement ventilation, which creates excellent standards of both comfort and sustainability.
