The redevelopment of Gable House in Chiswick sees the refurbishment of a 1960’s office building, replacement of its main façade and extension by an additional storey. The proposed works transform the existing building into a contemporary, light filled workplace with large crittall style windows, white concrete and brick cladding that references a turn of the century aesthetic.
At ground floor level, two commercial spaces are retained to provide food and retail outlets along one of Chiswick’s most active streets whilst a new, fully glazed extension at roof level provides additional office floorspace and creates a sleek top to the building.
The extended and overclad stair and lift core on the side of the building, alongside the removal of aerial apparatus at roof level, create a tidy, contemporary and elegant aesthetic that extends the lifespan of the original building and increases its overall appeal.
