Located on the banks of the River Aire, CJCT’s Kirkstall Road scheme envisions a dynamic, residentially-led development providing a series of new public and private open spaces which will make up approximately half of the site. Public realm will be provided in the form of a large public square fronting the river, together with space for outdoor recreation and attractive pedestrian routes to create a softer, greener neighbourhood to live and work in.
The buildings are clad in a complementing brickwork tones to the upper elements and have corbelled plinths to accentuate the solidity of the building bases. Colonnades provide covered walkways underneath the buildings across the site – arched entryways are utilised at the colonnade ends for wayfinding and navigation for pedestrians, a nod to the historic entry point into the site.
Previously CJCT successfully achieved an outline planning consent for residential development on the site in 2021. The practice has now fulfilled an ambitious brief for Glenbrook Developments, delivery c.618 new BTR homes across five buildings, which range from ten to thirteen storeys.
