CJCT’s regenerative BtR development proposed for John Lewis Partnership will deliver 215 high-quality BtR homes together with flexible commercial and community spaces, alongside a series of shared internal and external spaces.
The key design principles of the scheme, alongside the regeneration of a central brownfield site, are threefold: to create a thoughtfully designed, sustainable development; to create ‘healthy homes’ for long-term rentals; and to deliver a community centred, outward facing scheme.
CJCT’s design for John Lewis Partnership has evolved following a thorough process of researching and understanding the site in its emerging context, and our proposed development represents a significant regeneration opportunity. The scheme will enhance the existing area through the deliverance of active frontages, improve local pedestrian and cycle routes, and offer high-quality BtR homes on a well-connected but under-utilised site.
Since conception, the scheme has undergone a comprehensive process of consultation with the Reading Borough Council, Design South East, as well as local key stakeholders, whose opinions have welcomely informed the design. The result is a locally distinctive development that comfortably co-exists with the character of this part of Reading, and the proposals submitted for planning are something for all parties to be truly proud of.
