To convert the Grade II Listed former Leeds Grammar School into a state-of-the-art Business School, CJCT removed two floors of existing accommodation and added back three floors of cellular office accommodation.
The new accommodation was set back from the retained frontage to gain natural daylight, ventilation and ease of circulation. The conversion houses seminar rooms, staff offices, a library and cafeteria as well as a new build 140 person raked floor lecture theatre. To visually link the scheme into the wider developments of the campus a new glazed main entrance and stair core were provided.
The Business School is now one of the most highly regarded in the country and ranked in the UK’s top 12 of 100 business schools (Financial Times Survey 2008) and 52nd in the world by the Economist Intelligence Unit (2007).
