Prominent on the approach into Leeds Railway Station, the Junction is a nationally significant BTR development designed by Carey Jones Chapman Tolcher creating 665 new homes interwoven with a stunning new high-level park on the Monk Bridge viaduct.
There are many unique places in any historic city, and across the country a landscape of derelict industrial sites left by the Victorians, is studded with a range of magnificent built forms from viaducts to mills, canals to towering chimneys. Our brief was to breathe life into this place, re adapting a Grade 2 listed 300m long railway viaduct from 1846 with subtle enhancements to make way for new bars, cafes, and restaurants in the arches below and to serve as a unique park setting for a new residential quarter for Leeds.
For client’s intent on realising carefully considered adaptive re use of such structures we have the creative flair in New Build and Conservation to inspire positive outcomes.
