At the end of last year, our project for The Hyde in Colindale reached practical completion and is looking great in the early January sun. This achievement is thanks to the outstanding efforts of London Square and their team, who partnered with Hestia to deliver 244 new affordable homes for the housing provider Square Roots.
This project marks the completion of the first phase in the redevelopment of the BT Telephone Exchange and Switching Centre site in North London. It sets a positive precedent for regeneration in the wider Colindale area along The Hyde. CJCT worked with TT Group to create a hybrid planning application, enabling the phased implementation of the first building while the underutilized BT telephone exchange was vacated and relocated to align with BT’s evolving operational systems.
The scheme brings significant benefits to the area, providing 100% affordable housing, including eight new rental single-family homes and rooftop play spaces across three apartment blocks in a high-density urban setting. The strategic masterplan establishes future connections to neighbouring development sites, laying the groundwork for a vibrant quarter set between the Brent Cross, Cricklewood, Colindale, and Burnt Oak opportunity areas.
