CJCT proposals for Block A Woodward Halls in North Acton received a resolution to grant full planning permission

CJCT are pleased to announce that our proposals for Block A Woodward Halls in North Acton received a resolution to grant full planning permission at last week’s Old Oak and Park Royal Development Cooperation’s planning committee.

The project, on behalf of Imperial College London is for a mixed use PBSA led scheme which will complete and bookend the overall Woodward block on Victoria Road. Central to the success of the project are significant improvements to the public realm and a positive contribution to the place making at this gateway along Victoria Road into the North Acton Area. Linking with the existing buildings adjacent to the site, this development supports Imperial’s continued investment in North Acton and contributes to their wider portfolio and vision for the area.

The proposal will provide 268 student bed spaces, and is fronted by high-quality commercial space alongside flexible community space to form an activity hub at this important junction. The accommodation is arranged in a single building rising to 14 level which connects to the adjacent blocks at ground level for shared services. The student accommodation is arranged to prioritise quality with 100% dual aspect living, kitchen, dining spaces, and a wide variety of communal amenity spaces for students.

At ground floor commercial and community spaces are benefited by large openings to Victoria Road and park Royal Road which will enhance and activate the local streetscape. The new community space and garden will improve the public realm and provide a focal point within North Acton aiding place making and community interaction.

The success of this application becomes the third collaboration between Imperial and CJCT in the North Acton area with Woodward Blocks B, C and D and Kemp Porter Buildings along Wales Farm Road also helping to contribute towards the evolution of an exciting mixed-use area.
